This Week: WIP

The weeks between progress reports have been busy. I like busy. I also like my WIP's to be heavy on pictures and kinda short on words. So here it is all linked up to Lee's WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

What's a quilter to do when she's already got about 8 projects in the works? Start another, that's what! This little Summersville Stretching Stars is made from a charm pack of 5" squares and wonky scrappy triangles. I'm a little in love with the colors and simplicity. Next will be the uber cool mod quilting to finish 'er off!

Portland Modern Quilt Guild has a Michael Miller challenge using their new line of Cotton Couture. I made an improv block a few months ago and expanded on an idea for this one. I could see a whole bunch of blocks like this in my future.

I pulled fabrics for a little table runner to thank a friend for some amazing product marketing work she did for me. That next photo is my ode to "Material Obsession" a quilt top of 9-patches, prints and calico's.

I took a free style quilting class this month and the results have been positive! Practice does make perfect, but it also helps to have an amazing teacher and be shown the correct way to quilt. Interspersed in the month of June are poppies and raspberries.

I'll leave you with the first passion flower to open so far....a beautiful one!
Summer is off to a promising start!

Cheers!
Kelly

P.S. If you've made it this far wouldn't you do a lady a favor and vote for me! I'm a clothing finalist in the Ellison Lane Quilts summer sewing contest! Check out the cute top I stitched up! Thanks!

I like your star quilt. The free hand quilting looks good - keep it up. The flower is amazing. I do not think I have seen one before.

Hello from a fellow Oregon quilter! I love your star quilt -- the colors are great and they contrast so well with the color-on-white prints.
