Here's a little sneaky peaky of what you can win...but first I'm gonna get serious on you.... (**Disclaimer: this is my experience. It doesn't reflect onto you fair reader. You have your own struggles - but these right here, these are mine. thank you)

So this year (2013) I kept it simple: First I stopped making new things. I continued on with the big 3 WIP quilts I have started but no new big ideas were allowed to be entertained right this minute. I let new ideas percolate and simmer. But not to worry because the good ones have stuck around for later.
Then I let the Etsy shop expire listing by listing. I was overwhelmed by it, depressed a little and lost. I didn't know what to do next so I walked away for a bit to give it a good think.
Then I planted a garden and little by little those voices in my head that said I wasn't doing enough went away. The constant feeling of not being enough on the internet began to slowly fade. I didn't care so much about comparing anymore. I began to be content with what I was - what I am doing in real life.
Somewhere between finishing up a quilt top and planting tomatoes I was able to just enjoy creating again. For me; not for this blog, not for an unknown sale, not for anyone but me and my family.
I stopped trying to do everything. I started to do what made me happy.
And let me say it feels gooood. Now I post when I have something to share. Now I sew without WIP guilt. Now I have the space to revive my Etsy shop with the big heaping pile of wonderful I created last year. Now here's the part where I say
Hello internet world of craft out there, I have an Etsy shop that is jammed with all sorts of creations! I don't have a boutique of focus, I am slowing building an emporium of fabricy delights and crafty goodness. I am okay with that! That is who I am! Please come in a poke around, ask questions and buy something!
But what about next, what about long term like 5 years down the road goal. What about that, eh Kelly. Well I have been pondering that question and really it scares the hell outta me because the answer lies within me already. Write a book. A sewing book. A quilt book. Hhhhmmmm....nope. Tuck that away. Wait, no I want to dream. I want to do anything! But it's so much work! What if no one wants to publish it, what if you fail. This is the dialogue I have with myself a lot. Not sure who is winning out right now but as long as we keep talking I guess that's good.

So if you've made it this far..thank you very much. And to thank you for that one lucky person will win this happy little bundle sponsored by me and my grandma's vintage sewing notions! A scrap grab bag of Moda fabric strips, vintage buttons, doilies and the cutest little heart trim ribbon you've ever seen.
The fabric bundle is almost like a jelly roll but not quite as some strips are not exactly 42" long. And the bummer is I can't remember what this fabric line is called (any help, please!)
So to enter just leave me a comment here about your sewing dreams...what is it that you want out of your blogging, sewing, creating, selling world? Want another entry, then tell me in another comment you follow Blue Bird Sews via any social media link you see in the side bar up top.
I will leave the contest open until Friday October 4th and post the winner on Saturday the 5th. Open to US, Canada and Mexico only. And make sure to leave an email address in your comments if you are a no reply blogger.
And how about another prize for everyone! Just use code MEETUP now through Nov 30, 2013.
So here is the fun part...where you get to link up your shop and let all of us to go through and poke around.
